These instructions reflect a task our writers previously completed for another student. This week, you will be working out the remaining part of your project; implementation. In short, you will take one of the items you came up with in Writing Assignment #3, then determining how you would actually implement it. Remember, companies are not comprised of only one department. All companies (with VERY few exceptions) have four basic functions; Production/Operations, Sales/Marketing, Human Resources/Staffing, and Accounting/Finance. Most companies also have a Research and Development function and there are other functions at many companies, but these are the ones you must write about. Here’s how it works. Let’s say, hypothetically, that you are going to start doing something in a different country just like you do it here in the US. Simple enough, but this requires many things. You need facilities, right? So, a facility has to be built (Production/Operations). That requires money (a finance function – not just budgeting). Human Resources/Staffing will need to staff (and TRAIN) employees, but do you hire locally or do you send over expatriates (or both)? Sales/Marketing has to come up with advertising suitable for that country’s culture. Research and Development might also need to come up with a completely new product for the demand that is in that country. While the overall objective might be to increase total revenue, gain a percentage of market share, improve efficiencies, or whatever, each of these major business functions would need an objective for their particular portion of the work. For example, HR/Staffing might need to hire XXX employees locally. They would then need to train XXX employees as well. They might even need to relocate YYY expatriates by ZZZ date. Each of the sub-objectives needs to be in support of the overall objective and ALL OBJECTIVES must have something that one can look at to watch change (i.e., number of facilities, number of employees hired, number of employees trained, total revenue, or whatever). Then, you need to state HOW MUCH the change should be. This is the magic number for whether or not you actually accomplished what it was you said you would do. For example, if the measureable is Total Revenue and the amount of change is “5%”, then you would watch Total Revenue to see if it changes 5%. If it only changes 4%, then you failed to meet the objective. Simple. Finally, you need a timeframe for completion. The overall should have the longest timeframe. This is the date at which you will look to see if the objective has been met or not. Each of the sub-objectives needs the same thing. One thing though; you can’t have a sub-objective take longer than the overall objective.
That said, the list of objectives and sub-objectives is fairly straight forward. Just remember to follow the sample submission closely. What follows that, however, is the only real “writing” you need to do for this entire project. There are several sections of paragraphs and each section should be at least a page in length. Remember to source and cite outside reading material from your earlier core MSM courses, which I’ll be looking for when grading.
(Please insert refences in the source manager). I have attached a sample submission to help you (IT IS A GUIDE ONLY).
