Therefore, nursing research should explore the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based, stress reduction program on reducing stress, depressive symptoms, and anxiety in perinatal women (how it advances nursing science).
Poor example: Mammography (topic relevant to nursing) can detect breast cancer. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death for women in the United States (general problem). Therefore, nurse scientists should investigate mammography as an early screening tool for the detection of breast cancer (this is already being done, so it does not advance the science).
