Behavior Problems This week you read about identifying and serving students with behavior problems, as well as systems of school-wide positive behavior supports. For this discussion, pay attention to the issues that affect special education and how we discipline exceptional learners. Also, consider legal, ethical, and equitable challenges related to disciplining learners with special needs. For your main post, discuss some common types of disciplinary infractions for students in schools. What are some of the most common consequences for these infractions? Of the these consequences, which tend to be less effective, and how do we know? As a special education specialist, what behavior management techniques have you seen that were exceptionally effective, and what made them so? What are the essential components/aspects of more effective behavior management practices? (i.e., what makes them effective?). Do you believe misbehavior from students with exceptionalities should be handled differently than that from their typical peers? If so, how and why?
